Top Ten Videos of 2010

January 1st, 2011

The videos are here, the videos are here!!!

If you know me at all then you know I LOVE a good viral video; as 2010 comes to a close I thought I would share my picks for the top 10 videos of the year.

I categorized them by the 3F system.  3F = (Fun)ny, Family and Faith.

Enjoy and Happy 2011

#10 – Tic-Tock Star Trek- Whoever put this together is an editing genius and has WAY too much time on their hands. I can’t stop laughing at the marriage of this song and these clips. Who knew there was so much booze on the *Starship Enterprise*?!

Dedicated to DS

#9 -  Mom Rhapsody – Speaking of a good marriage between music and video, check out what this church, yes church, did to Queen’s *Bohemian Rhapsody*. Love, love, love it.

Dedicated to all the COOL moms, yup that’s you!

#8 – Dad’s Life – I can’t leave the dad’s out. This was also put together by the same church that did the *Mom Rhapsody*. Check out the *Aladdin* song at 2:00 mins. Hahaha so good!

Dedicated to Mr. K and all the COOL dads-yup that’s you!

#7 – Dancing Mickey – Here is another Dad doing what Dads do best, embarrassing their children. This is the first of of the family videos, starring my family. Look for the amazing Mr. K at the end.

Dedicated to Olivia

#6 – Double Rainbow Remix – This is what happens when Mother Nature, auto-tune and a herbal enthusiast called *HungryBear9562* come together. You can download this song on i-Tunes.

Dedicated to Yosemite lovers everywhere

#5 – Bust the Windows Out Your Car -  In case the last video gave you the munchies, please enjoy this ode to Church’s Chicken in this re-write of *Bust Your Windows*.  This kid can really sing; check out his other videos. I love his dad dancing in the background at the 2:29 mark.

Dedicated to Whitney

#4 – Southern Lights – Time to work off all that chicken with some screaming and mosh-pitting. This is the second family video on the list. This is Peter’s band at a small venue earlier this year. One of my highlights was watching them play with *Confide* at the GlassHouse to a sold-out crowd of over a 1, 000.

Dedicated to all The Rock-Stars

#3 – Beautiful Girl from North Korea – Changing gears in what is possibly the most inspiring young woman of 2010. This speech in from the 2010 Third Lausanne Congress of World Evangelism in Capetown, South Africa. This beautiful young orphaned woman’s faith in Christ inspires her to study diplomacy to help her country and people. May God answer her prayers and deliver North Korea from cruelty and oppression.

Dedicated to young people who strive for a better tomorrow

#2 – Bed Intruder – No other viral video sparked as much controversy and spin offs as this one. Its’ star went onto appearances on the Today Show, George Lopez, and BET awards show. This song became a huge hit on i-Tunes and it inspired an i-Phone app to alert you to sexual predators in your area. There were t-shirts, Christmas ornaments and Halloween costumes. Even conservative Liberty University included a glee-club version of this song in their Holiday show. The funds from all of this enabled the Dodson family to move out of the projects to a safer neighborhood.

Dedicated to Antoine Dodson and family

#1 – Heartline Hospital – Well here is the last one and it has all 3Fs. I love these people as family ( I lived with them for 3 months) and they have more faith and love than anyone I’ve ever know and this video is all kinds of fun.  After the devastating earthquake in Haiti they opened their own hospital ; they chartered a plane and brought in doctors, nurses, EMTs, PTs and supplies. They performed surgeries and used inventive PT strategies like playing funny songs to get their patients up and moving. This video embodies the Haitian Spirit, joy even in adversity.  I love the little boy at the 2:15 mark.

Dedicated to all the Heartline patients and volunteers

Two Blogs?…. How A.D.D. Are You?

July 26th, 2010

Blogging? Really ? Especially since I can barely write and THIS AND THIS freak me out.

I blame the two types of A.D.D.

1. Attention Deficit Disorder Numero Uno works like this : Children have many needs (see below)  They have  a primary need for attention and should its  parents neglect one or more of these areas , this WILL create an Attention Deficit lasting a lifetime.

NEEDS

a.  The need for human touch and contact

b. The need for nourishment

c.  The need for attention to its  physical well-being. Example: Should your five year old eat all the SUCRETS out of  the medicine cabinet when she was supposed to be taking a nap because her mother had said “NO! You can’t have any candy it’s nap-time!” And then after calling the doctor the mother made her drink soapy water until she threw-up. This is how A.D.D. starts.

NOT Candy

d.  The need for attention to a child’s academic and artistic leanings. Example: Should  your six  year old decide after watching Tom Jones on the Ed Sullivan show the night before, then decide to loving serenade her parents at 3 a.m. with her own version of “It’s Not Unusual “ complete with costumes and Go-Go- Boots and brings her baby brother along because he obviously needs to get a jump start on his exposure to “Culture”. You should not stifle her burgeoning genius. Or BAM !!! The A.D.D

Unfortunately I had very selfish parents who neglected my candy needs physical well being and artistic leanings and created an ATTENTION DEFICIT.

Adult Survivor of A.D.D. Numero Uno

Attention Deficit Disorder Numero Dos works like this:  Every morning you start different projects in various rooms around the house and leave them half finished.  That equals crap everywhere. Having crap everywhere is very distracting, so being distracted you think up another project and while you are doing your new and very important project you need something in the other room and when you go in there you think,   “Oh look there’s my Cheese Straightener!  I need to go in the kitchen and straighten my cheeses.”  Then you’re off to the kitchen and you find your Kabuki make-up in the back of the fridge, so you march into the bathroom to see if you can really capture the Kumadori, which you can’t, however you look really B.A., but now it’s mid-morning and  you are all kinds of hyper and and anxious and you need Adderall, but drugs are bad. Remember the 70’s?  YOU can only remember part of the 70’s and you want a cigarette BAD, but since you only smoke candy cigarettes that’s out…………sooooooooo…… The Internet!!

Who's Bad?

Finally the safe haven for the A.D.D. I can jump from project to project and it is ALL contained in my laptop. NO MORE MESSES!!!

Except I always figure this out mid-morning.

Yes I’m A. D. D. –Level 4  A.D.D. In both types. Or is that level 4 on Word Bubbles? I get those confused.
